Howls Don't Fossilize by tygerwolfe Howls Don't Fossilize by tygerwolfe
A bit of inspiration (having nothing to do with the 100 words project :P) that hit me around 1 am last night. I threw together most of the photomanipulation and the poem itself before I went to bed last night, finished it up this morning. Will probably be scrapped, eventually.

The poem reads:

Howls donít fossilize.
Pawprints do.
They tell us the ways,
The twists, the turns,
The speed, the age.
But not where they were going.

Pain doesnít fossilize.
Bones do.
Every cracked rib a story,
Every broken tooth a lost legend,
With nothing left behind.

Love doesnít fossilize.
Little bones do.
Little creatures scarcely beginning,
Lives already ended,
But by what?

Life doesnít fossilize.
Only death does.
Every bone a memory,
Every death once a life.
In the ancient world, long gone.

Behavior doesnít fossilize.
But I wish it did.

Nah, it isn't Darcia. Just the complaints of a paleontologist wanting to understand a long extinct species.

I once thought I couldn't write poetry, either. Then I learned that you just... let your soul speak. It doesn't have to rhyme, and most people have an internal rhythm that your poetry will automatically find. :)

Thx, ya I'm definatly going to try to write some poetry. Off subject real quick; I looked at your experiance project essay on therianthropy, shamanism and totems. Your essay is the most informative one I have seen yet. I just became aware of the term therian a few days ago and I'm still going through the process of re-examining. Do you mind if I e-mail you some time with questions? If you don't mind my e-amil is einsamwolfgang@gmail.com

This is such a great idea, and I just love the poem. I'll have to check back from home, this monitor's too dark to see all the detail on the ghosted image >.<

I tried getting in here from home last week but, just as I went HUZZAH I'M HERE! ... The computer froze up. Evil thing. It has a <2 hours of use limit right now and takes a good 20 minutes to boot. And it was like 2 am at the time and I had work. Oopsie XD

Incidentally, that's exactly what it is. :P

I have to disagree with you about love: there are cases where they've been fossilized caught in the act.
For example, the Bear Gulch shark Falcatus falcatus

Well, if you want to be technical, that's sex fossilizing... not love. :P

Hey, the guy (shark) was to die for, and she did, unfortunately.

Plus, do note that sharks, unlike humans, do not engage in sex for pleasure.
